ICYMI: Satellite internet provider Starlink hikes rates

Starlink, a provider of satellite internet services, has recently announced an increase in its monthly subscription fees.

In a communication to its customers, the company stated that the revised rates would apply to both current and new subscribers.

Under the new pricing structure, the standard residential package will now cost ₦75,000, the mobile regional package will be priced at ₦167,000, and the mobile global package will be available for ₦717,000.

The updated rates are effective immediately for new customers and will be implemented starting October 31, 2024, for existing users.

Starlink cited “excessive levels of inflation” as the reason for the fee adjustment, aligning the changes with current economic conditions.

The communication assured customers that they could opt-out of the service without incurring any penalties if they choose not to continue.
