The Kano Electricity Distribution Company has initiated the installation of over 4,000 prepaid meters for Band A and Band B customers. This installation is part of the Meter Acquisition Fund initiative introduced by the Federal Government. Approved meter vendors have been engaged by KEDCO to provide and install these meters. The aim is to bridge the metering gap in the region. The Meter Acquisition Fund program, overseen by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, aims to swiftly close the metering gap by deploying meters to customers at no cost. This initiative will aid in addressing Nigeria’s approximately seven million metering gap, ensuring accurate billing and sustainable power sector growth.
