Kano NSCDC trains personnel on use of anti-riot guns

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, Commandant Mohammed Agalama, has charged personnel to demonstrate professionalism, discipline and responsibility in the handling and deployment of anti-riot equipment while performing their duties.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, a copy of which was made available to Arewa on Friday.

According to the statement, Agalama gave the charge on Thursday during the unveiling of a training programme for operatives on the effective use of newly acquired anti-riot guns.

The Commandant explained that the training was designed to enhance the operational capacity of personnel in crowd control and public order management.

“The training on the handling and deployment of anti-riot equipment is aimed at enhance the operational capacity operatives on the effective handling of anti-riot equipment,” Agalama was quoted as saying.

The Commandant noted further that the anti-riot guns and other operational kits were recently provided to the command by the NSCDC High Command to strengthen anti-riot and crowd management operations across the state.

He urged the personnel participating in the training program to pay close attention to the training and ensure strict adherence to the Corps’ rules of engagement and standard operating procedures.

The State Commandant expressed profound appreciation to the Commandant General of NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for the gesture and continuous support towards improving the operational effectiveness of the Corps.

He assured the Corps High Command that the equipment would be judiciously utilised to enhance public safety, maintain law and order, and effectively discharge the mandate of the NSCDC in Kano State.

The training is expected to equip operatives with the requisite skills and knowledge for the safe, effective and professional use of the anti-riot guns and other equipment during lawful operations.
