Ahead of the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress in Nasarawa State, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and one of the leading aspirants of the party, Hassan Liman, has called for a violence-free and credible primaries.
He vowed to resist any attempt during the primaries to manipulate or give room for political extortion and rights abuse.
Hassan Liman stated this during a town hall meeting with his campaign coordinators and supporters on Tuesday in Lafia, the state capital.
According to him, all eligible citizens are protected by the Nigerian Constitution against any act that breaches their fundamental human rights. Therefore, actions capable of disrupting the primaries by any individual will not be allowed.
He urged his supporters to stand their ground in protecting democracy and strengthening inclusion in the 2027 general elections.
“No one should give room for manipulation, political extortion, and rights abuse because all eligible citizens are protected by the Nigerian Constitution against any act that breaches their fundamental human rights.
“My agenda for Nasarawa State, titled: ‘A vision for a brighter Nasarawa State 2027’, critically identifies the challenges of the masses. I promise to deliver on my responsibility if elected as governor,” he assured.
The legal luminary remarked that he had served in various capacities for the All Progressives Congress in the past years, and served the state diligently, therefore, urging his coordinators and loyalists to turn out en masse to vote during the primaries scheduled for later this month.
While expressing confidence that he will emerge victorious during the primaries, Liman said, “I am fully qualified to contest in the governorship race. As a respected lawyer, politician, philanthropist, and Nigerian citizen, I have confidence that by God’s grace, I will take Nasarawa State to greater heights if I am elected as governor.”
Our correspondent further reports that Liman, who is contesting for the second time for the Nasarawa governorship seat, promised to declare free education from primary to secondary in all public schools, build infrastructure, ensure agricultural revolution and improve on healthcare, security and human capital development if he scales through the primaries and 2027 election.
