NPA partners with NEPC to boost export efficiency for SMEs

The Nigerian Ports Authority recently announced a collaboration with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and other key stakeholders to connect the Export Processing Terminals with the Domestic Export Warehouse. This partnership aims to enhance the link between ports and inland areas while providing opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.

During the 2024 Lagos International Trade Fair, themed ‘Connecting businesses, creating value,’ the Managing Director of NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, shared details about the initiative. The agency is working towards automating port processes through the Ports Community System, paving the way for the National Single Window implementation.

Dr. Dantsoho emphasized that this project is in line with the government’s efforts to improve the business environment and boost the economy. The Export Processing Terminals will streamline the export process for Nigerian goods, making them more competitive globally by offering services like stuffing, packaging, and certification in a single location.

The National Single Window is a strategic approach to enhance trade efficiency by connecting all stakeholders in the supply chain seamlessly. Dr. Dantsoho highlighted that this aligns with the NPA’s corporate objectives and emphasized the importance of ongoing partnerships beyond the trade fair.

In a previous development, five Export Processing Terminals were commissioned in 2022 under the leadership of the former Managing Director of NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko, to expedite the export process for Nigerian products.
