Ahead of the upcoming handover on November 12, 2024, the current Governor of Edo State has reached out to the governor-elect, urging the formation of a panel to collaborate with his transition committee for a seamless transition of power.
A proposed meeting date of October 14, 2024, has been suggested for the inaugural sessions of both panels.
The governor-elect, from the All Progressives Congress party, emerged victorious in the September 21 governorship election in the state.
However, the election outcome is currently under dispute by the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
In a letter dated October 10, 2024, the Secretary to the State Government has urged the governor-elect to establish a transition committee to ensure a smooth handover of power on November 12.
Previously, the current administration had set up a transition committee to oversee the transfer of power and knowledge to the incoming government.
The Secretary to the State Government emphasized the importance of collaboration between both teams for a successful transition.
A proposed meeting date of October 14, 2024, has been suggested for the inaugural joint session of the transition committees to kickstart the process.
The commitment was made to provide the necessary support and resources to ensure an efficient and effective transition.
The aim is to establish a solid foundation for the incoming administration to meet the expectations of the residents of Edo State.
