Okpebholo alleges looting, seeks EFCC probe of Edo officials

The newly elected Governor of Edo State, during a recent address, urged banks to cease providing loans to the state government during the transition phase. He expressed concerns about the reported misappropriation of government funds and assets by officials of the current administration. Emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation, he called on relevant authorities such as the EFCC and DSS to look into the matter.

A transition committee has been established by the All Progressives Congress to facilitate the handover process. The Governor-Elect expressed disappointment over the alleged ongoing borrowing by the outgoing administration and the reported looting and damage of government properties. He stressed the importance of restoring public trust and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.

In response to these claims, the government advised against premature governance activities by the Governor-Elect’s team and criticized what they deemed as baseless and misleading statements. They emphasized the need for a smooth transition until the official commencement of the new administration.
