Osun communities alert Adeleke to looming unrest

The leaders of Idigba, Olorin, and Osuntedo communities in Osun State have called for intervention by the police and Department of State Services to address an alleged illegal appointment of village heads and land disputes in the region to prevent possible conflicts. The Olu of Olorin, Oba Abdulyekeen Oyebisi, expressed concerns about Oba Kamilu Ojelabi of Songbe attempting to take over their community, emphasizing the autonomy and unique history of Olorin. Oba Oyebisi emphasized that the Ogiyan of Ejigbo is the only paramount ruler recognized by all monarchs in the area. He urged Governor Ademola Adeleke, law enforcement, and security agencies to prevent any potential unrest caused by Oba Ojelabi.

Similarly, Oba Adeola Akintunde of Osuntedo raised alarm over the unauthorized appointment of a village head in his domain by Oba Ojelabi, leading to tensions in the area. The representative of Olu of Idigba, Prince Saheed Amidu-Iseiku, also accused Oba Ojelabi of making illegal appointments within their community. Oba Ojelabi, in response, advised the accusing monarchs to address their concerns through the appropriate government channels, claiming to have followed the law and obtained a detailed inquiry report on his domain’s boundaries. He urged them to present evidence to support their claims rather than making unfounded accusations.
