Oyebanji enjoys broad support across Ekiti, says aide

The Director-General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Community Communication, Mary Oso-Omotosho, has said that Governor Biodun Oyebanji is enjoying widespread support across various segments of the state.

Oso-Omotosho listed workers, artisans, farmers, women, youths and other key stakeholders among those backing Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the June 20 election.

The Director-General, who spoke with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, said the governor remained the preferred choice of the electorate.

According to her, the achievements recorded by the Oyebanji administration across various sectors have strengthened public confidence in the government and positioned the governor for a decisive victory at the polls.

Oso-Omotosho expressed confidence that “Ekiti people will reward the governor’s performance with another mandate in 2026. The support currently enjoyed by the administration cuts across party, religious and ethnic lines.”

She dismissed claims by opposition parties that they were gaining momentum ahead of the election, describing such assertions as wishful thinking disconnected from realities on the ground.

The Director-General said, “Governor Oyebanji’s stellar performance in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth development and social welfare has continued to attract widespread support from residents across the state.

“The governor’s consistent focus on delivering the dividends of democracy rather than engaging in political distractions has culminated in the positive impacts of government policies and programmes that Ekiti people are witnessing.

“Those talking about taking over the Government House should first assess the mood of the people. The truth is that Governor Oyebanji has earned the trust and confidence of Ekiti residents through his people-centred approach to governance.

“The governor has continued to demonstrate exemplary leadership, humility and commitment to the development of our state. His administration has touched lives across communities, and the people can see the results.

“Opposition parties are entitled to their ambitions; they are entitled to daydreaming, but elections are won based on performance and acceptance by the electorate.

“Governor Oyebanji enjoys unprecedented goodwill among workers, artisans, farmers, traditional rulers, youths and women across the state.”

According to Oso-Omotosho, several road projects, social intervention programmes and economic empowerment initiatives undertaken by the government have improved the welfare of residents and boosted confidence in the administration.

The Director-General commended the governor for sustaining cordial relationships with key stakeholders, including traditional institutions, labour unions, professional groups and development partners.

She urged opposition parties to focus on presenting their programmes to the electorate rather than engaging in what she described as baseless attacks on the government.
