Oyebanji’s wife canvasses exclusive breastfeeding, immunisation

Encouraging nursing mothers in Ekiti State, the governor’s wife emphasized the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby’s life to ensure their well-being and healthy development.

She also stressed the significance of ensuring children receive necessary vaccinations and supplements to protect them from childhood illnesses.

Speaking at the launch of the Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health Week in Ado Ekiti, a collaborative effort between the state government, UNICEF, and the World Health Organisation, she highlighted the availability of free vaccinations and supplements at public health facilities across the state.

The governor’s wife underscored the government’s dedication to maternal and child health, stating that the MNCH Week focuses on reducing child mortality and enhancing maternal health through targeted interventions.

During the event, she distributed Vitamin A supplements to infants and presented gifts to mothers, encouraging them to take advantage of the services provided during the MNCH Week.

She urged nursing mothers to make use of the resources available during the week and spread the word to ensure more women benefit from these essential interventions.

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Health described the program as a valuable opportunity for children to access necessary health services, including Vitamin A, deworming, nutritional support, and immunization, all aimed at improving the well-being of the state’s residents.
