PSG intensify chase for €150m Osimhen

Paris Saint-Germain have intensified their pursuit of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, with reports emerging that the French champions are prepared to negotiate the staggering €150 million asking price Galatasaray have placed on the Nigerian forward.

Galatasaray have made their position clear: Osimhen will not leave Istanbul unless a club meets their valuation in full. The Turkish giants hold the upper hand, with the 27-year-old under contract at the club until the summer of 2029.

PSG’s interest is understood to be driven by tactical needs under manager Luis Enrique, who is seeking a more physical and direct striker. Uncertainty surrounding Portuguese forward Gonçalo Ramos’ long-term future at the club has further fuelled the Ligue 1 side’s search for a traditional number nine.

Spanish outlet Diario AS reported that PSG view Osimhen as the ideal solution, with several other European heavyweights also tracking the Nigerian’s situation. “Osimhen’s performances have drawn attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus all monitoring his situation closely,” the outlet stated.

FIFA-licensed agent Mithat Halis added his voice to the transfer debate, arguing specifically that Osimhen would be the perfect fit for Real Madrid given their long-standing absence of a recognised centre-forward since Karim Benzema’s departure.

“Osimhen is a complete striker. He does not fit the classic number nine role, nor is he only a penalty-box striker. He is an all-round player; he can play with his back to goal, he can deal with tight defences, and he can also operate as a second striker,” Halis told AS.

“He also contributes defensively. All these qualities point to the type of player Real Madrid need. The club have not had a centre-forward since Karim Benzema. If they sign Osimhen, both Mbappé and Vinicius will play in their natural positions as wingers and be more effective.”

Osimhen has been in outstanding form for Galatasaray since joining the Istanbul club, contributing 57 goals and 16 assists in 73 appearances. His blend of pace, aerial strength and relentless pressing has made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.

Despite the persistent speculation, Osimhen has repeatedly expressed happiness in Istanbul, insisting Galatasaray feel like home.

He also singled out the club’s supporters for special praise. “Everything here is on another level. Galatasaray fans show you their affection both at away matches and in your private life. They are the best supporters I have seen in my entire career,” Osimhen added.
