Flood: Zulum requests N61bn addition to Borno 2024 budget

Borno State Governor has presented a request to the state House of Assembly for an additional budget allocation of N61 billion, in addition to the initial N358.7 billion budget signed into law on January 10, 2024.

The request, read on the Assembly floor by the Speaker, aims to amend the 2024 Appropriation Act to address the severe damage caused by a recent flood that affected nearly two million people. The proposed supplementary budget will focus on reconstructing key infrastructure, providing emergency relief, supporting farmers, facilitating economic recovery, and managing environmental concerns.

Following an assessment of the impacted areas, which revealed extensive damage to bridges, roads, and hospitals, the Governor emphasized the significant impact of the flood. The Assembly expressed condolences to the flood victims and appreciated the efforts of various entities, including individuals, local and international organizations, state governments, medical personnel, and security agencies, for their contributions in assisting those affected.
