Kano vows to support Fulani community, urges end to stigmatisation

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its support for Tabital Fulaku International in its efforts to unite and celebrate the contributions of the Fulani community to Nigeria’s progress. The government emphasized the need to halt negative portrayals of the Fulani in the media.

During a recent meeting with the Kano chapter of Tabital Fulaku International, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, highlighted the government’s commitment to empowering the Fulani community. He acknowledged the significant roles played by the Fulani in various sectors such as leadership, agriculture, and education, noting that they have produced notable leaders and professionals.

Gwarzo expressed concerns about the unfair depiction of the Fulani in the media and urged for a more balanced representation. He also encouraged Fulani leaders to collaborate with government officials to explore development opportunities and seek support.

The Deputy Governor called on the Federal Government and security agencies to address the negative stereotypes surrounding the Fulani community. He urged unity among Fulbe associations to protect their rights and promote a positive image.

Alhaji Sanusi Abdullahi Nassarawa, the Ardo of Tabital Fulaku International Nigeria, shared that the association aims to unify the Fulani people, enhance their livelihoods, and educate the youth while collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The Kano State Government’s stance reflects a growing advocacy for inclusivity and fairness in addressing challenges faced by the Fulani, recognizing their crucial role in Nigeria’s socio-economic advancement.
