South-West govs unveil new security strategy

The governors of the South West region have made a collective decision to establish a collaborative surveillance team to address the increasing security challenges in the area. This resolution was reached during a meeting held by the Southwest Governors’ Forum at the Lagos State House in Alausa, Ikeja. The governors present at the meeting agreed to set up joint food hubs to combat rising food inflation and its related issues, as well as to enhance regional security.

The Chairman of the forum and Lagos State Governor, in a statement after the meeting, highlighted the urgency of addressing the escalating security threats that threaten the peace and stability of the South West. The governors agreed to appoint special security advisors in each state, form a joint surveillance monitoring team to coordinate security efforts, and employ advanced technology like area surveillance systems to bolster security operations. Furthermore, they resolved to improve intelligence gathering by fostering collaboration between state security agencies, local security networks, and federal enforcement authorities.
