This card, developed in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, offers a convenient alternative to international card schemes, focused on providing seamless, naira-denominated transactions tailored to the local market.
The Afrigo Card aims to provide secure, affordable, and accessible payment solutions to promote financial inclusion and enhance the digital economy in Nigeria. UBA’s Group Head of Retail and Digital Banking emphasized the card’s versatility and features, positioning it as a key tool for financial innovation, inclusion, and accessibility for all Nigerians.
With features like chip-and-PIN security, seamless payments at ATMs and POS terminals nationwide, 24/7 fund access, and benefits for cardholders, the Afrigo Card caters to various demographics including low-income earners, artisans, students, and market traders. The affordability, security, and potential for biometric authentication and offline transactions make it an essential component in driving cashless transactions across the country.
UBA’s commitment to delivering innovative financial products is underscored by the launch of the Afrigo Card, which ensures enhanced security, convenience, and accessibility for customers. The bank’s Head of Cards highlighted the importance of the card in providing a reliable and affordable option for daily transactions while supporting the goal of financial inclusion.
Customers can acquire the Afrigo Debit Card at any UBA branch for a fee of N1,000 plus N75 VAT. The card’s design and features are geared towards meeting the financial management needs of a wide range of individuals, reflecting UBA’s dedication to driving financial inclusion and innovation.
