The Yayi Diaspora Movement has declared support for the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola, representing the Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State.
The group made the declaration during its inaugural meeting, which brought together Ogun State indigenes from 27 countries across the diaspora.
In a statement jointly signed by its Convener, Olusola Adubarin, and Secretary, Adekunle Adegoke-Sanjay, on Sunday, the group said the meeting marked the formal launch of the movement and the beginning of a coordinated global effort to support Adeola’s governorship aspiration.
The statement noted that members unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the senator during the meeting.
Members from Europe, North America, the Middle East and other parts of the world also pledged their commitment to supporting the senator’s political ambition.
“We reaffirm our collective belief in Senator Yayi’s leadership capacity, integrity and outstanding record of public service. He represents the kind of visionary and result-oriented leadership that Ogun State needs at this crucial time,” the statement read.
The group also highlighted what it described as the senator’s impact across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“No senator in the history of Ogun State has made such a widespread and visible impact across all three senatorial districts of the state as Senator Yayi,” the statement added.
It further disclosed that members discussed strategies aimed at mobilising support for the senator’s vision and strengthening grassroots engagement within the state.
To achieve this, the movement said it would appoint a state representative to coordinate its activities in Ogun State, working with coordinators across the 20 local government areas to expand its reach.
The group added that it remained committed to mobilising Ogun indigenes in the diaspora and supporting initiatives aimed at the development of the state.
