Gov seeks military presence to tackle insecurity in Katsina

The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, has stressed the necessity of establishing a military base in the southern region of the state to tackle the prevailing security challenges. This appeal was made during a meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, at the Government House in Katsina. Governor Radda discussed the state government’s efforts to address security issues, including the creation of a local security group called Katsina Community Security Watch.

In addition to the existing measures, plans are underway to train a new group of community watch corps to operate in 10 more local government areas, supplementing the current 1,466 personnel. Governor Radda also mentioned a Community Development Programme focused on engaging local communities in activities that promote safety within the state. This program involves a committee tasked with identifying needs and exposing criminal activities.

General Musa, during his address, mentioned that his visit was part of a tour to evaluate the security situation in North Western Nigeria. He assured his commitment to restoring peace and security in the region, emphasizing the importance of citizen support to achieve this objective. General Musa commended Governor Radda for initiating the Katsina Community Security Watch, noting its positive impact on enhancing security in the state.

General Musa highlighted the limitations of security personnel and urged all citizens to collaborate in the efforts to bring peace to Katsina State and the wider North region.
