The candidate representing the Peoples Democratic Party in the Edo State governorship election that took place on the 21st of September shared his trust in the judiciary system, referring to it as the ultimate recourse for justice for the average citizen. Despite facing legal hurdles regarding his candidacy, he remained optimistic about receiving a fair ruling. He criticized the alleged collaboration between the All Progressives Congress, the police, and some compromised INEC officials to manipulate the election results in their favor. He vowed to fight for the mandate he believes was stolen through legal and legitimate means. He criticized INEC’s bias towards the APC during the material inspection and highlighted flaws in the collation process. Dismissing claims of internal conflict causing their loss, he believed evidence supported his victory. The candidate expressed confidence in his legal team’s expertise and evidence gathered for the ongoing case. He warned against the dangers of electoral malpractice on democracy and thanked the people of Edo for their support, urging them to remain steadfast despite provocations.
