EPL: Glasner raises doubts over Nottingham Forest future

Nottingham Forest manager, Oliver Glasner, has hinted at the possibility of another managerial change at the club following their 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday.

Forest’s latest loss leaves them 19th in the Premier League table, just one point above the bottom, and increases the pressure on the club ahead of next weekend’s difficult meeting with league leaders Manchester City.

As reported by BBC Sport speaking after the defeat on Saturday, Glasner admitted that he had made too many compromises during his time at the club and insisted that changes were now necessary.

“It’s now time not to make compromises, it’s now time to show a clear way and everybody has to follow.

“And if they don’t want to follow, then I guess then the sixth manager will come in,” he told the BBC’s Match of the Day.

The Austrian also warned that Forest could not continue performing at their current level, promising to make changes to address the team’s struggles.

“Today is completely clear, we have to change something, a few things.

“I have to change a few things, and I will change a few things, 100%. We can’t continue in the same way, we have to change a few things, and that’s the key,” he said.

Forest have lost four of their last five league matches, with their only positive result during that period coming in a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town.

Their defeat at Brentford was particularly disappointing, as the hosts had gone four matches without a victory before Saturday’s encounter.

Neither team managed a shot on target until Brentford’s Igor Thiago scored their second goal in the 76th minute. The opening goal had come through a Nikola Milenkovic own goal.

Forest managed just one shot on target, which came two minutes after Brentford had doubled their advantage.

Glasner blamed defensive errors and a lack of attacking efficiency for the disappointing performance.

“We are making too many mistakes, the defence, then we are down. We controlled the game,” he said.

He added: “We are making too many mistakes in our defence and we are not ruthless enough, good enough, in finishing. That’s the truth.”

Forest will now look to respond when they face Manchester City next weekend, with Glasner under pressure to deliver an immediate improvement and avoid further questions about his future at the club.
