The Yobe State Chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress has refuted a viral circular on social media platforms calling for a state-wide strike by Yobe State civil servants, labeling it as false and baseless. A statement signed by the NLC state chairman, Muktar Tarbutu, clarified that negotiations on the new minimum wage between a joint committee of government representatives and NLC had been successfully concluded. The report has been submitted to Governor Mai Mala Buni for review and approval.
The NLC urged Yobe State civil servants to ignore the misleading circular and continue their regular duties. Emphasizing the importance of verifying information from credible sources, the NLC cautioned against fake news and urged the public to exercise caution. Tarbutu reiterated the NLC’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of Yobe State workers.
The statement concluded by reinforcing the NLC’s stance on disregarding the false circular, promoting vigilance against misinformation, and advocating for the interests of Yobe State workers.
