The Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo, emphasized the importance of local government autonomy and professional ethics during a meeting with Directors of Local Government and Treasurers at the Government House in Lokoja. He urged them to act as representatives of the government at the grassroots level to strengthen the relationship between the government and the people. Ododo praised the dedication of the officials and highlighted the significance of their role in maintaining accurate records and upholding professional standards to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.
Ododo called for cooperation among officials and encouraged support for the Accountant General of the state to deliver development to the grassroots. The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Umar, lauded Ododo’s leadership transparency and assured continued legislative support for his initiatives. The state Accountant General, Habiba Onumoko, commended Ododo’s contributions to grassroots development and empowerment.
The chairman of the forum of DLGs in Kogi State, Aliyu Musa, expressed appreciation for the governor’s approval of a new minimum wage and other welfare initiatives for civil servants. Musa also praised Onumoko for her guidance and professionalism in carrying out her duties.
