The Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Reverend Anthony Adaji, expressed strong criticism towards the current administration, suggesting that Nigeria is on the path to becoming a failed state. Adaji voiced his concerns during his 60th birthday celebration at Our Lady Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Idah.
During the event, Adaji highlighted the lack of trust in the government and the deteriorating state of democracy in Nigeria. He pointed out the one-party dominance in local government elections as a threat to democracy, emphasizing the need for a more inclusive political landscape.
Adaji also addressed the economic challenges facing the country, attributing them to mismanagement of resources. He emphasized that Nigeria is blessed with abundant wealth that should eradicate hunger, but poor governance has led to widespread poverty and suffering.
Regarding President Tinubu’s administration, Adaji criticized the removal of fuel subsidy and the rising cost of living, which have pushed many Nigerians into poverty. He called for a reduction in the cost of governance and denounced the prioritization of politicians’ wealth over the well-being of the citizens.
In conclusion, Adaji urged Nigerians to pray for unity and emphasized the urgency of addressing the worsening situation in the country.
