Kwara gov’s spokesman, Ajakaye, declares Reps bid

Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesperson for Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

Ajakaye announced his ambition on Monday in a short Yoruba video posted on his social media handles, where he appealed to party leaders, members and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress to support his aspiration.

His declaration comes amid increasing political activities and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspirants across Kwara State beginning moves to secure party structures and grassroots support.

Ajakaye, who has served as Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRazaq since 2019, is regarded as one of the prominent media and policy voices within the current administration.

According to him, the decision to contest followed extensive consultations with party stakeholders and thought leaders within and outside the constituency.

“I greet all our fathers and mothers. I also greet all the elders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress, especially in Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency.

“I am Rafiu Ajakaye, PhD. I am aspiring as a Member of the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja, under the banner of the APC.

“After several meetings and consultations with the elders and leaders of Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun Federal Constituency, I am elated to share with the general public that I shall be contesting in the upcoming APC primary elections as a Member of the House of Representatives for Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun,” he said in the video.

Ajakaye said quality representation in the National Assembly would strengthen governance and improve the delivery of democratic dividends to the people.

He added, “Findings by scholars and my personal experience have shown that a state government will achieve a lot more and deliver more dividends of democracy to the greatest number of its people with the support and partnership of quality and credible lawmakers.

“I will be a partner for public good and work closely with all stakeholders, including the state government, to align resources with public needs.”

He promised to provide honest, responsible and competent representation if elected, pledging to prioritise the interests of constituents and attract development to the federal constituency.

“I urge all the leaders and members of our party to work with me for sustainable growth and development of Ifelodun/Offa/Oyun,” he added.
