A fire incident occurred at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, causing significant damage to property estimated to be worth millions of naira. The incident, which started around 5 am in a paediatric consultant’s office, affected electronic devices, engines, books, office equipment, and roofs. A reliable source indicated that the fire likely began due to an electric spark.
Approximately 16 patients had to be evacuated from the ward as a safety measure. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the incident. The hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Ogunleye Omotayo, confirmed that the fire was contained with minimal impact on the hospital’s operations. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
The hospital management expressed gratitude to the staff, state Fire Service, and well-wishers for their swift response. They assured the public that normal activities have resumed in the affected area and there is no cause for alarm.
