The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, expressed confidence in the upcoming Ondo State governorship election, anticipating a successful process.
Yakubu highlighted that the commission had gleaned valuable insights from previous elections, particularly in logistics and results management, including the recent Edo State governorship election.
During his visit to the state headquarters of the commission in Akure, he emphasized the importance of addressing challenges in logistics and result management to ensure a smooth election day.
Yakubu assured voters in Ondo State of noticeable improvements in these crucial processes, aiming for efficiency and transparency.
His visit to Ondo was to evaluate the readiness of the state office for the upcoming November 16 poll, following positive reports about the office’s preparations.
During his stay, meetings with various stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, media, security agencies, and INEC staff, were planned to assess overall readiness.
Activities such as mock voter accreditation and engagements with stakeholders, including the National Peace Committee for a peace accord signing, were scheduled as part of the assessment process.
