Police rescue four trafficked children in Plateau, arrest 25 suspects

The Plateau State Police Command recently rescued four children who were reportedly enticed away with biscuits by suspected child traffickers. The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adesina, shared this information during a press briefing at the Command’s headquarters in Jos.

Adesina mentioned that the police were alerted on 12 October 2024, about the disappearance of the four children the day before. The report indicated that the children were last seen with a woman named Comfort, who was known to frequent a friend’s residence in the area and often treated the children to biscuits.

Following the report, swift police action led to the rescue of the four children and the arrest of two individuals linked to the incident. In a separate operation, 25 suspects were apprehended for various offenses in the state, including one individual caught with a fake pistol after robbing a churchgoer of her phone and power bank.

Additionally, the police uncovered a cybercrime syndicate involving 11 suspects, with two main culprits identified as Ateh Anthony Idoko and Daniel Idoko. These suspects were allegedly abducting recent secondary school graduates, coercing them into internet fraud activities, and resorting to violence against those who resisted.

Adesina emphasized that all suspects would face legal actions once investigations were completed and appreciated the public for their cooperation. He urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety of Plateau State.
