The 70th birthday celebration of the founder of Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare, was a grand affair on Monday, November 11, 2024.
The milestone was honored with a thanksgiving service at his church in Ikeja, Lagos.
The event was lively, featuring an uplifting praise session led by a well-known gospel artist, along with musical and poetic performances.
Bakare’s daughter, Fisayo, read from the Bible, and a documentary showcasing Bakare’s life was screened, followed by an inspiring sermon by Pastor Sarah Omakwu of Family Worship Centre.
Notable guests included Lagos State Governor, Deputy Governor, Ogun State Governor, and former Ogun State governors, as well as the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of Bakare’s autobiography, The Last But Definitely Not the Least, by Governors Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun, who commended Bakare’s dedication to justice, unity, and societal progress.
The reception was lively with performances by music legend King Sunny Ade and saxophonist Beejay Sax, traditional praises, and heartfelt tributes.
During the reception, the Emir of Kano praised Bakare for his courageous truth-telling in leadership.
The festivities ended with a toast, joyful singing, and dancing as guests celebrated Bakare’s remarkable life and impact.
