Youth involvement crucial in tackling climate change challenges – Customs

The importance of involving youth in addressing climate change was emphasized by the Nigeria Customs Service. They highlighted the global nature of the challenge and the need for collective action to combat it. The Customs Service pledged its commitment to contributing to the country’s climate change mitigation efforts.

During a three-day retreat at the National Teachers Institute Kaduna, Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu from the Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘B’, Kaduna presented a paper on the NCS’s role in climate change mitigation. The event focused on “Youth Involvement in Tackling Climate Change in Our Community” and was organized by the Red Cross Kaduna North Division and the Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit Zone B Kaduna as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative.

Shuaibu stressed the urgency of addressing climate change and the importance of taking concrete actions to reduce carbon footprints and promote sustainable practices. The retreat discussed collaborative efforts, renewable energy initiatives, sustainable trade practices, and combating wildlife trafficking as part of the NCS’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change mitigation.

The event concluded with tree-planting activities to symbolize the commitment to environmental sustainability. Shuaibu expressed optimism about Nigeria’s ability to address climate change challenges and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to promote environmental stewardship and community engagement.
